BEHIND THE BRAND

When I was very young, my weekends were spent following my father around at the high school where he taught industrial arts (auto, wood, metal).  I quickly figured out that I loooved creating things out of whatever scrap materials I could find.  While my dad was preparing his lesson plans for the week, I’d be in a corner gluing something together (or to myself), eventually learning how to use the various saws and other non-kid friendly tools.   

 

Fast-forward to my post-college years, I was fortunate to be able to pursue another creative hobby ... swing dancing,
(big thanks to my mom for introducing me to it)!  After years of competing and teaching at the professional level, I hung up my dancing shoes, ready to begin a new journey in my life.  I was blessed to marry the most amazing man

and with that, I also became a 'bonus mom' to two incredible kiddos.  After getting settled into this new wonderful life,

I felt the urge to revisit some of my passions from childhood: Riding horses and DIY projects.  As a teenager I rode hunter/jumpers but these days, I'm giving dressage a go!  This new hobby, in combination with my experience with costume rhinestone application and my industrial arts skill-set, has led to the creation of Black Dog Leatherworks. 

It's been a dream so far and I can't wait to really jump-in and create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for all of you! 

 

At Black Dog Leatherworks, we specialize in creating Swarovski crystal horse bridle browbands and dog collars,
Swarovski earrings and other misc. horse & rider accessories and gifts. 
We are a woman-owned small business, located in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

We're also excited that this new venture provides us with a platform to give back.  My family has a black lab, Remy, that we rescued when she was 8 weeks old (she's now 9), and we're hoping other families who adopt can feel the same joy and love for a rescue animal that our family does. Therefore, 10% of every purchase made at Black Dog Leatherworks

will be donated to the Animal Humane Society!  Woo-hoo and thank you!!
